Humus

In the wonderful formerly called Villa Gaslini and now property of SAFR (a local government organization) in Montefoscoli, lovely small village in the province of Pisa, we created and organized Humus, three days of theater, music, arts, food and wine tasting, and conferencing about Sustainable Development.
The idea was to support MateriaLab, the professional training container project I’m busy with since years ago, connecting it with a rural community in the attempt to merge local tradition and international influences, under a cultural aspect but also a learning perspective in a wide variety of fields, together with Pisa’s Universities, the Provincia di Pisa’s Government, Regione Toscana and other national and international partners. Also thanks to the commitment of doct. Alberto Mariannelli, SAFR AD, and Alberto Falchi, mayor of Palaia, the municipality which Montefoscoli refers to, Humus has been a huge, incredible success. Thousands of people came from the entire area and from the surroundings, but also from other cities, some of them more than 100 km far away from Montefoscoli. Humus’ success gave me the feeling that I was starting something really good and with a great potential. Unfortunately after having moved to The Netherlands on February 2009 it was no more possible for me to follow the organization of Humus 2009, and I had to cancel it. The website is still active, http://humus.materialab.it.
