DiVinoMuseo
Valdera is an area of Tuscany, famous for its main town, Pontedera, house of Piaggio, the worldwide known producer of Vespa. The area suffered from a postindustrial disease since the late 70’s, when Piaggio started to cut production and of course personnel. Many people found themselves in the position to start all over again from the land, actually the only resource available. In particular the territory of Terricciola, a village whose economy depended completely on Piaggio, and before that on wine making.
Terricciola’s municipality gave us an assignment in order to create a brand and a container project for facilitating the rebirth of the rural vocation in its territory. DiVinoMuseo was born as a wine museum but instead of being into a closed space its home was the entire territory, concept that turned DiVinoMuseo into a true Ecomuseum (definition introduced by Hugues de Varine in 1971). Very simply, DiVinoMuseo is a brand that applies to a wide variety of actions, like events, exhibitions, tastings, publications, not necessarily about wine, but mostly about the culture of territory and its derivations, going from wine to art to literature to design to theater and entertainment in general. After its birth in 2003, three of the biggest italian producer of wine established their main production facilities in the Terricciola’s territory and vineyards, starting a new era in the area’s rural economy and at the same time feeding the rebirth of a traditional way of living that suddenly attracted medium-high level tourism, both national and international. The feasibility study is in italian only, and it’s available on demand under non-disclosure agreement. The website has been dismissed, but it’s still visible here.
